John Brill started Sligo Creek Farm in September 2007 on two half-acre plots, one in Olney and one near Greenbelt, Maryland. The “Our House” plot is located just west of Olney on land owned by Our House, an amazing residential youth center that also has a small certified organic farm worked by youth and led by Dr. Ed Gould. Everything grown at Our House is USDA and Maryland Certified Organic.

 

In 2009 John partnered with Marc Grossman, an accomplished local grower, to farm in partnership at Our House, alongside Our House Youth Farm. Last year Marc Grossman started Greens Next Door, a local business specializing in growing great-tasting salad mix. He sold produce at the Olney Farmers Market and to several local restaurants. Marc also grows a variety of produce in his home garden.
